Columbia Man Charged After Early‑Morning Domestic Assault, Police Say
COLUMBIA, PA — February 8, 2026 — A Columbia man is facing assault charges after borough police responded to an early‑morning disturbance that escalated into a reported domestic violence incident, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Columbia Borough Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Union Street at approximately 1:29 a.m. after Lancaster County‑Wide Communications received a call reporting an active disturbance. Upon arrival, Officer Zach Throne made contact with the victim, who told police that an argument between her and Eric Andrew Tirado, 26, had escalated into physical violence.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the dispute began as a verbal altercation over the phone and continued when Tirado returned home. The victim told officers that Tirado became physical after she picked up his PlayStation 5 during the argument. She reported that Tirado grabbed and pushed her, at which point the confrontation intensified.
Police say the victim stated she was dragged by her hair, struck three times with an open hand on the right side of her face, and pushed to the floor. Officers observed visible injuries, including scratches, abrasions, and redness to her face and neck.
According to the filing, Tirado admitted to shoving and backhanding the victim during the dispute.
Tirado has been charged with Simple Assault (Domestic Violence) under 18 Pa. C.S. §2701(a)(1), a second‑degree misdemeanor. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Columbia Borough, Lancaster County.
The case was filed before Magisterial District Judge Miles K. Bixler. As of the time of filing, no additional charges were listed.
