COLUMBIA, PA (June 13, 2026) — A massive three-alarm fire ripped through multiple homes and a commercial structure in Columbia Borough on Saturday afternoon, leaving several families displaced and prompting a large-scale emergency response across Lancaster and York counties.

According to reports from the fire broke out shortly after 3:20 p.m. along the first block of South 4th Street near Cherry Street and Avenue I.

🔥 Fire Quickly Escalates to Three Alarms

Heavy flames and thick black smoke were seen pouring from rooftops as the blaze rapidly spread through a row of attached buildings. What began as a structure fire was quickly upgraded to a third-alarm incident, bringing in dozens of fire companies and mutual aid units.

Emergency dispatch records show the incident was classified as a high-occupancy 3-alarm fire, triggering a wide regional response.

Firefighters from Columbia, Lancaster City, Mount Joy, Wrightsville, and numerous neighboring departments worked for hours to contain the blaze.

Officials report at least five buildings were destroyed or severely damaged, including multiple homes and one commercial property.

Emergency management officials confirmed that:

  • Three homes and one business were destroyed
